Molly Powers, ’21

Molly Powers, ’21

Molly is a dual major in economics and dance, with a minor in international relations and ultimately chose HWS because of the scholarship she was offered. She is a Jean W. Reeves ’34 Arts Scholar. This fund was established via a bequest from Jean W. Reeves, H ’34 and Seneca Society Member. To date, the fund has given support to over 40 students in the past 20 years.

Income from this fund is to be used to provide merit-based scholarships to talented students in the fine and performing arts. These scholars shall be known as the Jean W. Reeves '34 Arts Scholars.”

In addition to the financial support, the fact that this fund supported her interest in the arts—dance specifically—encouraged Molly to explore the dance program at HWS. Molly wanted to be able to pursue both her interests of economics and dance, and HWS has allowed her to do that. The scholarship encouraged participation, and she was able to get behind the scenes as well, learning about stage managing and working with choreographers.
