Celebrating 50 Years
![]() |
This past June, alums and their families returned to campus for Reunion, celebrating the classes ending in 0 and 5. Notable on campus was the energy and enthusiasm from the Classes of 1975. Leading their Reunion Class Committee were Dr. Richard “Rick” Solomon ’75, P’10 and Susan Albert ’75, P’07, P’09.
Both former trustees and parents of graduates, Rick and Susan have remained closely connected to Hobart and William Smith throughout the years and both have made the ultimate commitment as members of The Wheeler Society.
Rick has been involved in a myriad of ways since graduating and encourages others to do the same: “Whether it is attending regional admissions events, participating in alumni association activities or governance, providing much-appreciated career counsel to current students and alums, participating in on and off-campus events and financial generosity...each of these important activities (and others) solidifies and evolves the connectedness of our community, ensures HWS’s future and enriches the constituencies that comprise HWS in so many ways. I encourage you to remain a part of HWS.” Rick generously documented a planned gift in honor of his 50th Reunion.
For Susan, supporting HWS through the annual fund and planned giving “is my way of expressing that pride and gratitude. It’s more than just philanthropy—it’s a reflection of my belief in the enduring impact of a Hobart and William Smith education. Planned giving, in particular, has allowed me to make a lasting investment in an institution I care deeply about. It’s comforting to know that my support will continue to make a difference even beyond my lifetime—helping ensure that the Colleges remain a place of inspiration, inclusion and excellence for generations to come.”
